Nutritional Therapy:
As busy professionals in the centre of a major city we sometimes
get caught up in the stresses and strains of everyday life; at The Stress Exchange
we offer
a full range of services to help you look and feel good. We now offer nutritional
therapy as part of our services from our resident Nutritional Therapist Svetlana
Ilina, BSc (Hons) MBANT.
What is Nutritional Therapy?
Our health is strongly linked to what we eat and how we
process it. Our bodies malfunction if they are
poorly nourished.
Nutritional Therapy is about understanding how our
dietary habits affect our health. Nutritional Therapists
apply nutrition science to promote
optimum health & performance. They assess nutrient intake and identify
biochemical imbalances which underline manifesting signs and symptoms. The
imbalances could be nutrient deficiencies, hormonal insufficiency or excess,
impaired detoxification functions, inappropriate inflammatory response, lack
of digestive factors, to name a few.
Taking into account each person’s individual circumstances
and unique nutritional needs, Nutritional Therapists develop
therapeutic programmes to
alleviate or prevent specific health issues and to support the efficiency of
bodily functions. The programmes may involve dietary and lifestyle modification,
as well as the use of nutritional supplements if appropriate.
Diagnostic laboratory
tests are sometimes suggested to assess body’s functions
and treatment progress and to support recommended protocols.

Nutritional Therapy Procedure
Consultations are confidential and one to one. Prior to your initial
consultation you will be asked to complete a questionnaire and a
three-day food consumption diary and return it before your consultation;
this will enable more time for analysis and discussion.
We may discuss your current health problems, medical history,
lifestyle factors and aspects that affect your dietary habits (such
as cooking
abilities, personal, religious or medical issues). This is usually
followed by Nutritional Therapist’s explanations of findings
and diagnostic considerations. The last stage of the consultation is
creating an achievable action plan.
Within a few days post-consultation you will receive
a personalised report. The report summarises the discussed diagnostic
considerations, the action plan
and a schedule of supplementation if agreed.
In some cases clients may be asked to consult with their doctor to
investigate medical problems.
Follow-up consultations assess progress, address new issues, and adjust
treatment plan accordingly.
Clients are requested to respect appointment times
and fees, we have a 24 hour rebooking and cancellation policy (see
Stress Exchange terms
and conditions).
